Your Questions
-
Do you publish all submitted articles.
No. We review each article and if we consider the article good and one that meets our submission rules then it will be published.
-
What happens if I submit to an incorrect category?
When we look at articles we first look at the article title and the category in which it has been posted. If they title matches the category then we review the article further if it doesn't it is deleted. You MUST make sure you submit to the correct category.
-
What should I do if there is not a category for my article?
If you cannot find a suitable category then submit your article as uncategorized and if we publish it we will create a category for you.
-
What happens if I submit an article to a top level category?
It will be deleted without ever being reviewed. We do however at this time have blocks in place to prevent top level category publishing, so it should not currently be an issue.
-
Is my article reviewed by a human or machine?
ALL articles are reviewed by humans.
-
If my article is not published can I ask for it to be re-examined?
Unfortunately no. Any articles not published are deleted from the system, so we cannot go back and review it again.
-
Why is the registration process so strict?
The process is strict due to spammers. The system is set to try and make it harder for spambots and remote registrations. Article sites are prime targets for spammers to try and use so we try to discourage them, however it is hard to stop a human spammer which is why the process is strict. If a user is genuine they are more likely to be prepared to tolerate such measures.
-
What happens if I register and violate the submission rules?
Depending on the violation it could mean your article is not published. If we feel the matter warrants a more serious remedy we may delete your user account. In extreme cases we will not only delete a user account but also block your IP address.
-
Can I submit more than one article at a time?
Yes you can, but be careful. If you submit too many articles at one time we may see it as spamming and delete them all and possibly even remove your user account.
-
If I have submitted my article correctly, how do you decide if you publish it?
First it must meet the submission rules if it does that then there is every chance it wll be published. All articles are checked manually not only for content but also that links are valid and point to a site linked to the article and not sites which have no relevancy. If the article is good but has links pointing to non relevant sites those links may be removed or the article rejected. We also check all code used in the article as well as if it is informative etc. There are a lot of factors and each reviewer will make their own decisions.
-
If I scrape content from another site how will you know?
Most of the time if content is scrapped it contains a lot of extranious html code which may only appear once the article is submitted. This is a very good indication of scraping as an article should not require that code. As we have said humans check ALL submissions and are pretty clued up on what should or shouldn't be seen. If you don't want to take the risk ... DON'T do it.
-
Why have you re-designed the site?
We felt it was time to change the look of the site, so we have changed it. We have made it we think a better experience for visitors and those who submit their articles. All management is done via the management console and users can choose to subscribe to specific feeds. We think the design is sleeker and easy on the eye. We have also streamlined posting to social sites such as Twitter and Facebook, and users can get the article code to include an article elsewhere.
-
What are QR Codes and why do you use them.
QR Codes are barcodes designed to be read by mobile applications and barcode readers. They allow the easy sharing of information between mobile devices and with others. The easiest way to think of them is like barcode bookmarks.
-
Do all articles have a QR Code?
Yes. We have set the system up so that when someone reads an article the sidebar will display a unique code for that articles page. So that means using QR codes you can share specific articles with others.
-
QR Code. Cannot show code message instead of barcode. Is there something wrong?
No there is nothing wrong. It sometimes happens that not all information is cached correctly. All you need to do is refresh the page and the code should appear in the sidebar.
-
Why are article submission sites important?
Many articles have been written on just such this subject, however most can be condensed into a few key points. The first is that articles can help your web site or blogs page rank with the search engines. This is not guaranteed but can help. The second point is it allows you to share particular knowledge with a wider audience, that can lead to you becoming known as an expert within your field. The third key point is good articles are picked up by other organisations and are often used to promote particular ideas and you get the credit.
-
Can visitors get the article source details so they can reproduce the article elsewhere?
Yes. Like all good article sites we make the source available for reproduction providing all credits are maintained. The source can be found at the end of each individual article by clicking the link provided.
-
Are you just looking to include articles by the best authors?
No, we are not aiming to be elitist. We want to publish articles from everyone. We do however have the expectation that they will have been spell checked and that grammer will be ok. We know not everyone finds it easy to express themself in words. We look for interesting articles that will have an interest to others not just to us and that meet our guidelines.
-
What is the difference between an article and self promotion?
An article is imformative and shares knowledge, it is about a subject and is detailed. Self promotion is about you, what you do, how you do it, your sevice. Articles are about how something can be of benefit no matter who the supplier is.
-
What is article spinning?
Article spinning is where an article is written and then software used to produce multiple versions of that single article. Spinning software replaces words with others that are similar in an attempt to make an article look original. However when the software replaces words sentances often do not make sense and the replacement words are often wrong. These are just some of the ways we know articles have been spun.
-
English is not my first language so I use translation software is this Ok?
If you read our guidelines you will see we say that ALL copy should be proof read by someone with English as a first language if it isn't yours. Translation software will often translate words incorrectly making an article look spun. If it looks that way it is automatically rejected.
-
How many articles out of all those submitted do you actually publish?
The truthful answer is "Not a lot". Why? Well many are posted to incorrect categories or fail to meet our submission rules in other ways. We get a lot of scrapped and spun articles which we ALWAYS reject as well. If we get 60 submissions we consider we are doing well if we publish 5 of them which equates to about 8% although the number is usually lower. If people cannot submit GOOD articles that conform to OUR RULES then we will not publish them. We do not care about quantity only quality, if those who submit articles to us cannot be bothered to make the effort then it is their fault they aren't published.
-
What do you do about suspected spammers?
Firstly when someone signs up to use the site their ip address is checked against DNS blacklists as well as other options. We also monitor what parts of the site are accessed, when and by whom. Like most sites we expect spam and spammers and worse. Why? It is the nature of the internet. We will always see activity which is wrong we may miss odd things but over time our logs will show a pattern and we can then look closer. If we find a suspect user we will monitor what they do and then take whatever action we feel is warranted. Including notifying anti spam lists so they are added. We have and continue to work with organisations like project honeypot. Only the guilty have anything to be concerned about, innocent mistakes happen. Proxy servers are no protection if we block the ip addresses, to be honest we will blacklist whole countries if we feel it justified, patterns in the past have shown spam is more likely from certain places and if the suspected spammer is in one of those locals it does not do them much good in our eyes. We are being open and honest, we don't want to punish the innocent or those who made a mistake, we will only usually target those who regularly carry out such actions and have been proven to do so.
